VAN HOLLEN WON’T SAY IF HE SUPPORTS SCHUMER

Senator Chris Van Hollen is declining to say whether he supports Senator Chuck Schumer remaining the Senate Democratic leader.  He says his focus is on the 2026 midterm elections.  When asked twice about Schumer’s future, the Maryland Democrat said the party should wait to see what voters decide.  The comments come as some polls suggest Democratic voters are divided over whether party leadership should remain the same or embrace new ideas.  The uncertainty also comes as several Democratic candidates have stopped short of endorsing Schumer for another term as Senate minority leader.
