A cat that attacked two people in the 300 to 500-block of Cumberland Street has tested positive for rabies. The cat was a large, black, short-haired male, and anyone who may have come in contact with it should reach out to the Health Department at (301)-759-5138. The Health Department is urging residents to stay away from stray or feral animals, report any animals showing signs of rabies. This includes a change in the animal’s behavior, such as unusual friendliness or aggressiveness; nocturnal animals being unusually active during the day; and, staggering, excessive drooling or paralysis.
