The Supreme Court of Maryland will hear oral arguments this week in the state’s appeal of a ruling on a redistricting amendment. Last week, Anne Arundel Circuit Judge Robert Thompson said in part that lawmakers failed to follow state election procedures when they rushed the measure through a special session. The judge then put a stay on the order, allowing for a state appeal. The ruling came in response to a lawsuit filed by Republican lawmakers and activists. On Friday, an Eastern Shore judge blocked the proposed ballot question from appearing before voters in November.
