GARRETT COUNTY INMATE FOUND DEAD IN CELL

Mountain Lake Park resident Vernon Reed Platter was found dead in his cell at the Garrett County Detention Center yesterday. Southern Garrett Rescue Squad responded, but he was pronounced dead. The death appears to be from natural causes, and the investigation is being conducted by the Maryland State police and the Sheriff’s Department Criminal Investigation Division.
