Allegany County may hire outside help to evaluate massive amounts of information pertaining to the takeover of a private water company. According to the Cumberland Times-News, the commissioners utilized eminent domain to take over the Pinto Water and Wastewater and Highland Estates Water system, which is owned by Maryland American Water, a subsidiary of American Water Works Company.
