Meritus Medical Center’s labor and delivery team has received statewide recognition for efforts to improve care for mothers and newborns. The honors for the Hagerstown hospital were awarded through programs operated by the Maryland Perinatal-Neonatal Quality Collaborative. Meritus Medical Center earned gold- and silver-level recognition for participating in initiatives focused on serious bleeding during or after childbirth and low blood sugar in newborns. The collaborative based its recognition on measures that included hospitals’ participation in data reporting, office hours and coaching calls.
