The Farmers’ Almanac has released its Halloween guide. To estimate turnout, it suggests asking neighbors or using last year’s trick or treater count, while allowing for changes caused by weather, neighborhood events, or the day of the week.
The guide recommends two fun-size pieces per trick-or-treater, plus about 10% extra. For 100 visitors, that works out to roughly 220 pieces of candy. For full-size candy bars, the guide says to plan on one per trick-or-treater. 61% of consumers plan to hand out candy.
Farmers’ Almanac recommends buying candy during the second-to-last week of October for the best prices.
