House of Delegates Democrats renewed their call for Governor Patrick Morrisey to hold a special session to suspend the state gas tax. They say conflict around the globe is pushing energy prices higher, and they want relief at the pump. Republican Senator Chris Rose of Monongalia County is also open to the idea, though he would rather tap the Rainy Day Fund. The gas tax money goes to the state road fund, and the Contractors Association warns that losing it could hurt road projects. Ohio suspended its gas and diesel taxes for 90 days, using nearly three-quarters of a billion dollars in surplus revenue to make up the difference.
