The State Police Aviation Command is receiving new harnesses for the agency’s K-9s. The Maryland Police K-9 Foundation, which operates under the Stevensville-based Chesapeake Charities, has donated seven specialized hoist harnesses to help troopers lift canines out of difficult-to-reach areas and transport them when they need medical care. The harnesses will be placed on each of the State Police helicopters after crews complete training and establish procedures.
