A week of evidentiary hearings on the Mid-Atlantic Resiliency Link began yesterday. The 500-kilovolt transmission line would run 107-and-a-half miles from Pennsylvania to Virginia. Just under 59 of those miles would pass through West Virginia, across Monongalia, Preston, Hampshire, and Mineral counties. NextEra Energy Transmission is developing the project, and officials say it is needed to meet future grid demand. The state Public Service Commission will hear the case at its Charleston headquarters, and about 190 intervenors are scheduled to take part.
