The Independent Investigations Division of the Maryland Attorney General’s Office is investigating a deadly police-involved shooting in Hagerstown. The shooting happened just before 5 p.m. Friday after the Hagerstown Fire Department responded to an apartment fire on Randolph Avenue and encountered a man inside the apartment. Fire personnel requested assistance from police and, when officers arrived, they created a perimeter. Officials say a man ran out in the direction of the officers, and they deployed Tasers after he failed to obey verbal commands. Police then fired their service weapons at the man and two knives were recovered at the scene. EMS personnel took the man to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. No officers were injured.
