General Motors will pay 220 million dollars to settle allegations it shared drivers’ personal data without their knowledge or consent. Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown says the state will receive about seven-point-three million dollars as part of the multistate settlement. Investigators say GM collected and sold data on driving habits and locations to third parties, including companies that provided information to insurers. The settlement requires GM to get drivers’ permission before collecting or sharing their driving and location data.
