I.F.O.’S REPORT NOTES POTENTIAL BENEFIT OF TAXING SKILLS GAMES

A new report by the state’s Independent Fiscal Office says the potential impact of regulating and taxing electronic skill games will be huge. The report projects tax revenues could surpass 400-million-dollars within five years from Governor Shapiro’s proposed 42 percent tax on the games. The estimate won’t likely impact current gaming revenues because its forecast only applies  to new forms of gaming. Legislative analysts say there is likely potential bipartisan support for the governor’s plan as more lawmakers are warming up to the idea of regulating and tax skill games.
