A bill passed in the West Virginia House yesterday would provide schools to hire former police officers as armed security guards. The bill is similar to a Senate bill that was passed earlier which includes former military personnel. The armed school security guards would not have arrest powers, but it is hoped they would provide enough of a deterrent to keep West Virginia schools a bit safer.
