Lieutenant Colonel Roland Butler is officially the superintendent of the Maryland State Police. The state Senate confirmed Butler to head the agency on a vote of 43-to-four. Four Democratic senators from Prince George’s County voted against the nomination. Butler was nominated to the post by Governor Wes Moore. He becomes the first Black State Police commander.
