The Allegany County Health Department did not name them, but a representative from the Cumberland Healthcare Center on Winifred Road has confirmed several cases of COVID-19. Some staff members and several residents were suspected of having the coronavirus. Of five employees recently tested, 3 were negative and two had positive results and are not presently working at the facility. Twenty residents were exposed and exhibited symptoms; five were tested because tests “are not widely available.” All five of those tests were negative. Fifteen other residents are receiving care in isolation. For its part, the local health department says the HIPPA regulations prevent them from answering questions about where COVID-19 cases have been confirmed.
