An overnight earthquake rocked parts of Howard County and was felt as far away as Washington, D.C. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 2.1 magnitude quake occurred around 2 a.m. near Clarksville, near Columbia in Howard County. Several residents took to social media to post their reaction with many saying they felt their homes shake but were not sure of what was happening. Area police departments report no immediate damage or injuries from the quake. USGS officials say Maryland averages an earthquake every three to four years.
