Effective today, all students and staff, regardless of vaccination status, must wear masks indoors. To date, just over 21 per cent of youth, ages 12 to 17 are fully vaccinated in Allegany County and 26.6 per cent have received their first dose. The public school system will continue to work with the Allegany County Health Department, and beginning October 1st, will begin to monitor the CDC data tracker for Allegany County. If the metrics place the county in the low or moderate classification for two consecutive Fridays for community transmission, masks inside buildings will be recommended, but not required.
