State and federal data show Allegany County had the highest number of COVID-19 deaths in the state, with one of the lowest vaccination rates. There are now 96 new COVID cases and one additional COVID-related death. The local positivity rate is almost twice that of the state. Allegany County reports a 9.44 per cent rate, while the state is at 5.05. Only 41.7 per cent of residents are fully vaccinated, while the state has set a goal of an 80 per cent rate by Labor Day. The local health department is still conducting testing three times per week at the Allegany County Fairgrounds and free vaccination clinics every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon, and from 1 to 4 p.m.
