The Allegany County Health Department will extend the hours of its Wednesday afternoon walk-in Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine clinics to 5:30 p.m. through the end of September. From 9 a.m. to noon, the Moderna and Johnson and Johnson vaccines will be given; from 1 to 5:30 p.m., the Pfizer vaccine will be dispensed. As of Friday, there were 98 new COVID cases in the county, with one additional death. The local positivity rate is more than twice that of the state. Allegany County reports 11.25 per cent, while the state rate is 4.68. Forty-three per cent of Allegany County residents are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19, compared to 62.7 per cent of all Maryland residents.
