One person is dead, following a hit and run accident on Jersey Mountain Road in Hampshire County Sunday morning. Authorities have the identities of both the victim and the driver but are not releasing names while the investigation is underway. The victim was found in a ditch in the 300-block of Jersey Mountain Road, near Northern Eagle Distributors. The Hampshire County Sheriff’s Office has the vehicle involved, and evidence is being reviewed. The victim’s body has been sent to the State Medical Lab for an autopsy. Charges are possible, as the Sheriff’s Office says they will consult with the Prosecutor, regarding potential charges. The West Virginia State Police are assisting in the investigation.
