COUNTY THIRD LOWEST FOR VACCINATIONS; SECOND HIGHEST FOR CASES

Allegany County continues to have one of the highest COVID-19 case rates and one of the lowest COVID vaccination rates in the state of Maryland. As of Sunday, there were 65 new COVID cases and one additional death reported. According to the CDC, unvaccinated individuals are 11 times more likely to die from COVID. There will be a free, walk-in COVID-19 vaccination clinic tomorrow from 9 to noon and 1 to 5:30 p.m. As of September 12th, 43.2 per cent of Allegany County residents were fully vaccinated against COVID, compared to 63 per cent of all Maryland residents. The county positivity rate is 10.12 per cent, over twice the rate of the state of Maryland at 4.75 per cent.
