It looks as if some things are returning to normal, as the Downtown Development Commission has announced New Year’s Eve festivities will return to the city this year. There will be music, beginning at 10:30 p.m., the ball drop at midnight, and fireworks. The city has also approved an open container exception and alcohol will be permitted on the mall and in its vicinity. Last year, the events were cancelled due to COVID concerns.
