Attorney General Brian E. Frosh is announcing the death of the state’s 40th attorney general. Stephen H. Sachs has died at the age of 88. Frosh says he was “privileged to call him a friend, a confidante and a mentor.” The Baltimore native became the 40th attorney general in 1979 and served for nearly a decade. He was considered one of the greatest attorneys general of Maryland for being a champion for civil rights and election reform.
