MAN CHARGED IN MALL INCIDENT

Thirty-seven-year-old Jai Chad Johnson was charged, following an assault complaint on the downtown Cumberland Mall on Wednesday. The alleged victim reported that a black male threatened him with a knife. An officer approached Johnson, to speak with him, but he told the officer he wouldn’t. He then fled on foot. They arrested him on Bedford Street, taken to the police station and later released on a criminal citation, pending trial. He was charged with disorderly conduct, and it wasn’t clear why there were no charges filed for allegedly threatening the victim with a knife.
