The Who’s Pete Townshend says he’s smashed a lot of guitar amps in his career. “We used to smash the guitar into the amplifier which made a bang… I loved that sound and the audience did too. I started doing it all the time. We spent so much money on amps! I think I could have gotten each of the boys a house with all the money we spent on amps.”
