MD. COURT OF APPEALS REJECTS LEGISLATIVE MAP CHALLENGE

The Maryland Court of Appeals has rejected a challenge of the legislative map passed by state lawmakers earlier this year. The ruling means the new districts for selecting General Assembly members will be in effect for the July 19 primary election. The deadline for candidates to file remains this Friday at 9 p.m. The map was the subject of lawsuits filed by Republican politicians and voters who claimed the districts were drawn to favor democrats and violated provisions in the state constitution.
