MARYLAND TO BEGIN COUNTING MAIL-IN BALLOTS TODAY

The Maryland State Board of Elections says some primary election results will not be known for days because of a state law that prevents the counting of mail-in ballots until this morning.  In-person voter turnout was low in many jurisdictions yesterday due in part to the primary being moved from June 28 to July 19 because of a redistricting challenge. Other factors that may have contributed to the low turnout include early voting, mail-in ballots and voters who may have been on vacation.
