Keyser residents will have the opportunity to comment on pending water and sewer hikes. Proposed increases have been termed “significant,” but necessary, as the city was using the general fund to subsidize the sewer fund. The sewer fund now owes $400,000 to the general fund. If approved, the increases would take place gradually, over the course of 18 months. Sewer rates would go up 15 per cent in October and 9 per cent of July of next year. Water rates would increase in October and an additional 5 per cent in January of 2024.
