The Marion County School District is leaning on a couple of universities to help them fill teaching vacancies. West Virginia University and Fairmont University are providing students who have met their Perspective Certified Teachers of Record course and have at least a three-point GPA as student teachers. Of the nearly two-dozen open teaching positions, more than half are in Special Education and English & Language Arts. Across the state, there are as many as two-thousand public school classes still without a full-time teacher.
