COURT OF SPECIAL APPEALS DENIES MOTION TO DELAY EARLY BALLOT COUNT

The Maryland Court of Special Appeals has denied a motion to delay the early canvassing of mail-in ballots.  The motion was filed by Dan Cox, who is the state’s Republican nominee for governor.  Last week a judge granted a request by State Board of Elections to begin the canvass as early as October 1 to avoid a delay in results.  Cox was seeking an emergency order to prevent the count from starting while he appeals the lower court ruling.
