Thirteen Maryland jurisdictions began counting their mail-in ballots yesterday. Some jurisdictions began counting before election day after it was approved by the state’s highest court but others decided to wait the standard two-days after the election. The mail-in count will likely decide a couple of contests including the Anne Arundel County Executive race. Currently Republican Councilwoman Jessica Haire is leading incumbent Democrat Steuart Pittman by around 11-thousand votes and there are more than 40-thousand mail-in votes to be counted.
