Maryland education leaders are reacting to the latest statewide English Language Arts and Mathematics assessment results. Data shows that statewide ELA results returned to pre-pandemic levels for most grades. But when it comes to math, slight progress was made but not enough to rise above pre-pandemic proficiency. The data was for the 2021-2022 school year. State Board of Education President Clarence Crawford said its promising to see some improvements, but he’s not satisfied. Meanwhile, State Superintendent of Schools Mohammed Choudhury is vowing to provide all students the resources they need to achieve the highest amount of success.
