ICE STORM CAUSES NUMEROUS PROBLEMS IN THE REGION

Yesterday’s ice storm in the Tri-State region caused power outages, vehicle accidents, and caused school systems in Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania to cancel classes. Perhaps the hardest hit area was Hampshire County, where over 8,000 customers had no electricity. In Allegany County, fallen utility poles and lines on Douglas Avenue in Lonaconing caused more than 100 customers to temporarily lose electrical service. There were numerous accidents in the area, including a tractor-trailer rollover on eastbound Interstate 68, east of Rocky Gap State Park around 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon.
