If you used the Pennsylvania Turnpike recently, you may have noticed you’re now paying more to do so. A rate increase of five percent went into effect Sunday. The cost has gone up to a dollar and 80 cents for E-Z Pass drivers and ranges up to four-dollars-40 cents for toll-by-plate drivers. State officials say the increase was needed to meet capital improvement obligations. The hike, which has happened every year for the past 15 years, was approved by the turnpike commission in August.
