LONGTIME COMPTROLLER BIDS FAREWELL TO ANNAPOLIS STAFF

Longtime Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot is calling it a political career.  After three terms as Maryland’s chief financial officer and 20 years in the General Assembly, Franchot left his office in Annapolis for a final time on Friday, saying goodbye to staff and employees.  The 75-year-old Franchot ran unsuccessfully for governor last year, placing third in the Democratic primary.  His successor in the comptroller’s office, Democrat Brooke Lierman, is sworn in today.
