Senator Mike McKay has partnered with Delegate Vaughn Stewart, a Democrat, to introduce the Whole Homes Repair Act of 2023. If passed, the bill would make grant funding available for homeowners with property in need of repairs. A pilot program would make grants of up to $50,000 available to landlords who own no more than five properties to make repairs on items such as downspouts, roofing, windows and stairways. Among those testifying in favor of the bill was Cumberland Mayor Ray Morriss.
