Some parts of far Western Maryland are bracing for a nasty bout of wintry weather. Higher elevations of Allegany and Garrett counties are under an ice storm warning for much of the day today. Up to four-tenths of an inch of ice is possible, along with a coating of snow and sleet. Forecasters say power outages and tree damage are likely due to ice and strong winds, and travel “could be nearly impossible.” A winter weather advisory will be in effect for central and eastern Allegheny County until 6 p.m.
