W.V. BILL BANNING UNDERAGE MARRIAGE FAILS

State senators in West Virginia have rejected a bill that would have banned underage marriage in all circumstances.  The measure in question was voted down 9-8 this week by the state Judiciary Committee.  Minors in West Virginia as young as 16 can tie the knot with parental permission.  Any younger and a waiver from a judge is required.  The state House has already overwhelmingly passed the bill that would no longer allow those under 18 to get married.
