MD. SENATE ADVANCES CHILD SEX ABUSE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS

The Maryland Senate advances a measure to remove the statute of limitations on child sex abuse and allow survivors to file civil actions against complicit institutions. Several Republican-sponsored amendments were rejected after debate yesterday. The measure would limit damages in lawsuits against public institutions to 890-thousand-dollars and actions against private institutions to 1-point-5-million-dollars. A final vote could come this week.
