Lockdowns at the Federal Correctional Institution in Cumberland and the adjacent minimum-security satellite camp have been lifted, but reasons for the heightened status remain unknown. According to the Cumberland Times-News, FCI initiated “modified operations” at the main prison on August 16th, and at the camp on August 18th. The Federal Bureau of Prisons notes that it does not comment on the conditions of confinement for any incarcerated individual, for “privacy, safety, and security reasons.”
