A seven-year-old autistic girl, who had been reported missing from her Westernport Road home, was found dead in the North Branch of the Potomac River Monday afternoon. All first responders, police agencies and fire departments began the search, and the child was found and taken to the nearby riverbank. Emergency medical care was provided for an extended period of time; unfortunately, the child was pronounced dead. A follow-up investigation is being conducted by the Medical Examiner’s Office, the C3I Unit, and Child Protective Services.
