GOVERNOR MOORE SIGNS MORE THAN 140 BILLS INTO LAW

Maryland Governor Wes Moore has signed another round of bills passed during the General Assembly session. More than 140 pieces of legislation are now law including the Expungement Reform Act of 2025. The new law makes it easier for people to have their criminal records cleared after completing their sentence and other requirements for certain crimes – including probation violations. The measure is an expansion of Governor Moore’s 2024 executive order pardoning 175-thousand Maryland convictions for cannabis possession. The governor also signed the Second Look Act into law enabling courts to review long sentences after a period of time served, for people convicted of a crime between the ages of 18 and 25.
