WV SAW DROP IN DRUG ODs IN 2024

State officials say West Virginia saw a significant drop in drug overdose deaths last year.  Officials with the state’s Department of Human Services say West Virginia recorded a 40 percent decrease in drug overdose deaths — the most of any other state.  They attribute the decrease to access to overdose-reversal drugs, the increase statewide in rapid response teams and cooperation among law enforcement.  West Virginia’s highest drug overdose rates happened during the pandemic when treatment and access options were limited.
