ANCIENT “PHARAOH’S CURSE” FUNGUS COULD KILL CANCER CELLS

New research shows that a potentially deadly fungus dubbed “pharaoh’s curse fungus” could fight cancer.  Scientists from the University of Pennsylvania modified molecules from the fungus to make a new compound with cancer-killing properties.  The fungi’s official name is Aspergillus flavus and is found in decaying leaves, compost, trees, plants and some crops.  The fungus can cause respiratory issues for those with weakened immune systems or on certain medications.
