Kilmar Abrego Garcia is asking to remain in jail in Tennessee after the Trump administration said it would deport him to a third country once released. In a filing from his lawyers on Friday, Abrego Garcia’s team said “we cannot put any faith in any representation made on the this issue by” the Justice Department. He currently faces human smuggling charges. He was deported to El Salvador earlier this year before being returned to the U.S. in what’s turned into a flashpoint for President Trump’s illegal immigration policies.
