It is now known that Frostburg State University is laying off 8 staff members and eliminating vacant positions as officials work to address a budget deficit for Fiscal Year 2026. According to the Cumberland Times-News, the moves come following a 7 per cent state funding cut to the University System of Maryland, which amounted to $4.43 million for Frostburg State, which is about two per cent more than originally expected.
