The Mavericks are planning on taking a break from the road early next year. In a shared statement, the band said they’re dropping out of the week-long Sandy Beaches Cruise that was scheduled for January as frontman Raul Malo undergoes what they hope will be the last leg of his cancer treatment. The singer will undergo hernia repair surgery that month to address complications from one of his previous cancer surgeries. The Mavericks said their decision wasn’t made lightly and they hope this will be the final hurdle in Malo’s cancer treatment.
