HAGERSTOWN WOMAN DEPORTED AFTER 30 YEARS IN THE U.S.

A Hagerstown woman who lived in the U.S. for 30-years has been deported to Vietnam. Melissa Tran and her family arrived in the U.S. as refugees in 1993 and in 2003 she was arrested in a theft case. Tran served time and paid full restitution. ICE detained Tran in May after she checked in with immigration. Tran was held for five months and released since she did not have travel documents from Vietnam.  Tran’s husband says Vietnam issued a passport and she was arrested during an ICE check-in Friday and deported on Monday. Tran and her husband operated the Nail Palace and Spa in the Long Meadow Shopping Center for nearly 22 years.
