West Virginia Senator Jim Justice is agreeing to pay more than five-million-dollars in back taxes to settle a lawsuit with the Department of Justice. The DOJ says the Republican lawmaker has “neglected or refused to make full payment” of the debt that he and his wife owed in 2009. The IRS also filed tax liens against the couple last month, and Justice indicated to reporters that he believed the IRS’s claims against him were politically motivated. However, a separate filing on Monday has revealed that they agreed to back the total in full.
